The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective management of quality control and operational support for the production and shipping of concrete ready mix and aggregate products. The coordinator’s main objective is to ensure the quality and consistency of the products, resolve any issues that arise, and handle situations quickly and safely. The job covers the Northwestern-Ontario region, with collaboration and support for other Northern Ontario operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Health & Safety: Implementing safety policies, ensuring compliance with government regulations, conducting risk analysis, coordinating safety training, and adhering to safety guidelines on construction sites and company operations.

Environment: Prioritizing environmental considerations in daily activities and complying with environmental regulations.

Support to Operations: Ensuring the application of the quality plan for materials, maintaining up-to-date testing results and database entries, analyzing results, troubleshooting operational and quality issues, conducting job site visits, coordinating tracking and testing protocols, and providing technical expertise and support.

Technical Support and Quality Control: Supporting the development, management, and optimization of products, implementing the company’s quality program, conducting sampling and testing, monitoring testing KPIs, managing quality incident investigations, generating reports and analysis, maintaining relationships with various teams, and participating in quality audits and product development.

The Quality Control Coordinator works closely with the Technical Manager and collaborates with the QC, plant, operations, and sales teams to ensure the production and delivery of high-quality products that meet customer needs. Key accountabilities include safety, product performance, customer service/support, product quality control and performance, troubleshooting, cost management, quality policies and training.

The ideal candidate should have post-secondary education in Civil Engineering/Technology or equivalent, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the RMX Concrete or a similar industry. Knowledge of construction materials, quality control tests, and industry standards is important. Proficiency in Windows-based software, MS Excel, and specific applications such as Command Concrete, Apex, SAP, and Quadrel is desirable.

The work environment may involve both outdoor and indoor settings, and flexibility in working hours, including overtime and weekends, may be required. Handling cement, aggregates, concrete, and lab equipment is also part of the job.
