Integrity, Intensity, and Intentionality: Cornerstones of Exceptional Employees

In the modern workplace, where competition is fierce and the demand for high-quality performance is relentless, certain character traits stand out as essential for finding and nurturing employees who will contribute meaningfully. Among these traits, integrity, intensity, and intentionality emerge as three of the pivotal characteristics for the makeup of a good employee. Understanding and prioritizing these three traits can significantly enhance an organization’s ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Drawing on the insights of renowned authors like Steven Covey, Patrick Lencioni, and Gino Wickman, let’s dive into the definitions of these traits and explore their critical importance in the workplace.

Defining Integrity, Intensity, and Intentionality

**Integrity** is often considered the bedrock of personal and professional ethics. It refers to the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. In his seminal work, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” Steven Covey emphasizes integrity as a fundamental principle that underpins trustworthiness and reliability. Covey asserts that integrity involves

Trading Job Flexibility for Stability During Tough Economic Times

Let’s dive into an important topic that impacts many of us: job stability in today’s economy. In a world that glorifies flexibility, it’s time to explore the often-overlooked advantages of good ol’ fashioned job stability.

The Importance of Job Stability

Listen, I know we live in an era where freedom and flexibility are held up on a pedestal. We’re bombarded with messages telling us to pursue our passions, work when and where we want, and embrace the gig economy like it’s the key to eternal happiness. But here’s the reality: job stability is the backbone of a thriving career in the modern world.

In a constantly fluctuating economy, having a stable job provides you with a solid foundation for growth and financial security. It’s like constructing a sturdy house on solid ground instead of building a treehouse in a turbulent forest. With job stability, you can plan for your future, confidently pay the bills, and even

Eye Candy

“Dad, why do they have Hooters girls at their booth?”

“They bring them in to draw attention and a crowd.”

Attending Truck World today, after a decade in the industry, it is clear to me that the event is not the same as it has always been. Personally, I think the industry as a whole has made a pivot. But what is it, and will it last? Truck World is one of the best places to take in the industry from a granular perspective. You see the new technology that is coming in. You see the new players who are showing up and the old ones who are still around. Truck World introduces drivers to companies who need them and gives the general population an invitation to an industry that could change their lives.

As a 14-year-old, it was the best way to take in everything that transportation had to offer. Yet, my biggest takeaway was that the

Has The Ceiling Shattered?

Unveiling the Realities Faced by Women in Male-Dominated Industries

Are Male-Dominated Industries Still Male-Dominated?

Over the course of 10 episodes, I spoke with a variety of people in different male-dominated industries to determine whether these industries were still predominantly male. While most interviews led to the same conclusion, what was truly shocking were the stories that came out when the recording turned off discussing things anything from miscarriage to sex toys in the workplace.

While these women hailed from different industries, varying in age, life stages, and career levels, it was eye-opening to discover that many faced similar barriers and shared experiences within their respective fields.

Motherhood

Working mothers universally acknowledge the challenge of balancing career and family, but those in male-dominated industries encounter additional obstacles. Through the series we spoke with many women who faced different experiences in similar veins.

“He said, ‘Mummy, you’re always leaving,’ and it kinda broke my heart.”

Teething on Transportation

Bridging the Gap Between Stereotypes and Reality

Growing up with a grandfather who was a driver and a father who owns a driver agency, the concept of the transportation industry was ingrained in my world from an early age. However, reconciling my love for my pink fluffy wardrobe room with a desire to obtain an AZ license or balancing perfectly manicured nails with owning an agency that helps people hire drivers myself might seem contradictory. How does one straddle these seemingly opposing worlds?
In my opinion, it all boils down to education and awareness.

From an outsider’s perspective, the transportation industry can appear intimidating. Stereotypes often paint a grim picture, associating it with steel-toed boots, lot lizards, and the horrific scenes of Final Destination 2. This skewed perception doesn’t do justice to the dedication and hard work of our drivers. It fails to acknowledge that the food on our dinner tables, the packages we receive, and the products we enjoy wouldn’t be

Automation in the workplace: good or bad?

A few days ago someone asked me,

“If you woke up today from a 15 year comma what do you think would surprise you most about today’s world?”

My answer –

“The lack of human interaction in everyday life.”

Humans have become incredibly dependent on so many of the everyday automations in our lives.

Starting with things like washing machines and dishwashers we have automated  some of the most basic tasks. However this was only the beginning.

Now with automated workflows in your crm’s to chat bots writing long winded university papers and articles just like this one… it begs the question. Is this good… or bad? My simple answer is both.

When you take a look at the fast progression there are a few reasons that AI has the ability to appear superior to humans.

Artificial intelligence is amazing for speed. Humans

Embracing the Fall Rhythm: The Power of Scheduling for a Balanced Life

Introduction

As the days grow shorter and the leaves begin to paint the landscape in hues of amber and gold, it’s a clear sign that fall is upon us. This season marks a time of transition, not just in nature, but also in our daily lives. For parents, it’s the return of school routines, and for many professionals, work tends to pick up as we inch closer to the end of the year. With the busy winter season looming ahead, now is the perfect time to delve into the importance of a well-structured schedule, not only for managing the chaos but also for safeguarding our mental wellness.

The Three III’s of Hiring

INTENTIONALITY. INTEGRITY. INTENSITY.

A long time ago in London Ontario, a little boy was a rugrat of a child. Running the streets of his small farm town with the other hoodlums around the neighborhood. He would take his dad’s car for joy rides, hitchhike across the US, or get fired from every job he had.

However, as time slowly passed on this little boy turned into a man. He moved to the United States to meet the love of his life and began a family with two amazing twin boys and later, a daughter. The rambunctious nature of his youth was slipping away as bills began to pile up and his family’s needs formed before him. A family to take care of. To protect and guide.

As Dave’s career continued to morph and the children continued to grow, he knew that starting his own staffing service was his next best opportunity. As the business grew along with his

Back to Basics

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone was expecting the world to return to its “new norm.” Perhaps you heard these words a time or too. The world witnessed a significant disruption across industries, forcing businesses to adapt and rethink their strategies at the core. However, as we navigate the path to recovery, there is a growing realization that returning to the basics of business practices can yield substantial benefits. This “what’s old is new” philosophy is particularly relevant when it comes to outbound sales calls, creating customer relationships, and so much more.

The Power of Outbound Sales Calls

In the age of digital marketing and social media, outbound sales calls might seem outdated. In the midst of the pandemic doors were not only closed but locked. Keeping all human to human interaction at a minimum. However, for this reason the pandemic has emphasized the value of personalized human connections.
